Shawn
Brush Biography continued...
Early
on in life Shawn was inspired by such greats as Willie Nelson,
Johnny Cash, John Prine and bluegrass legend Bill Monroe.
He began playing the guitar at the age 14. Not long after,
while taking part in a local bluegrass jam
Shawn found himself profoundly moved. He felt something had
changed in him forever.
In
high school, Shawn took it upon himself to sneak into the local
bars in order to trade licks with the older and more experienced
musicians around town. Soon he was getting booked regularly
into these same establishments as it became readily apparent
he was something of a musical prodigy.
Next he joined a country/rock outfit, Timberline
where he filled in as their pedal steel player. His demand
both on stage and in the studio continued to grow steadily.
At the same time Shawn wrote more and more songs
of his own, following in the footsteps
of his childhood heroes. As his music developed Shawn began
spending his summers traveling from one bluegrass festival
to another... from North Ontario all the way down to Nashville,
Tennessee.
